MINCE

Leeds post-punk band

From the basements and garish living rooms of Leeds comes post-punk outfit Mince. Insecure and sleazy they may be, but deliberate in sound and soul, the surreal quintet succumbs to a heavy pastiche of noise, from Frankie Valli to The Wedding Present.

Mince have played shows at the Brudenell in Leeds, Spice of Life in Soho and Supersonic in Paris, gracing the stage with bands such as Hotel Lux, Moreish Idols and Fcukers. Featuring on BBC Radio 6 and Radio X, Steve Lamacq and Chris Moyles have enjoyed Mince’s contaminated pick and mix selection of ditties.

Their new single ‘Sad Old Jumper’ is a paradox, angsty but defiant, structured but caustic. It tells of a story all too common, but far too taboo - the crushing reality of life past school gates, divorce and those caught in the crossfire. But it’s love that builds us up, even when it’s hell bent on tearing us down.
